Florin Flueras, Artwork (2020-)
With Eliza Trefas, Martina Piazzi, Florin Flueras
The presentation of Artwork in Warsaw will take place on Friday, 27th of October, between 17h00 and 21h00 at WOK Lab, Marszałkowska 34/50
Artwork is a method that borrows from somatic, spiritual, therapeutic techniques and aesthetics but it is centered on transforming artworks into practices. Central to Artwork is the idea that artworks should be practiced, that art shouldn't just be seen, it should be lived. Why all the effort to create artworks just to be finished in products to be consumed? Sometimes you can have the feeling that the final products, the "artworks" are the tombstones of practices, thoughts, affects, perspectives behind them. In Artwork, works that are done mostly to be looked at are activated in the bodies of visitors/clients/students, they're transformed into Artwork – an artwork and a new method at the same time. Artwork is ambiguous, it can appear as performance, therapy, exhibition, workshop, promotional event, text, artwork or a combination of these, depending on the context – art, philosophy, spirituality, therapy, education, alternative medicine, literature. Ideally, audiences/clients /visitors from many of these fields are brought together at the same event. Artwork is the meeting of these publics, conventions and perspectives around artworks as practices.
Florin Flueras' work expands into spheres of politics, philosophy, spirituality, health care, media, education, literature – affecting conventions and certainties, producing performative meetings between art and its outside, through entities like Artwork, Unsorcery, Clinica, Black Hyperbox, Postspectacle, Art Opening. In his recent work, he explores body situations and capacities that affect what underlies the conceptual and perceptual, what is possible to think, see and feel in different contexts. In certain prestigious art events the works appear uninvited as Unofficial Unworks. More than visual or conceptual, Florin sees his recent practice as affect art. He has shown at MAB FAAP Sao Paulo, DEPO Istanbul, Jardim Equatorial Sao Paulo, MUMOK Kino Vienna, HAU Berlin, TQW Vienna, Karas Zagreb, DeSingle Antwerp, Suprainfinit Bucharest, MNAC Bucharest, Salonul de Proiecte Bucharest, Berardo Museum Lisbon, Aleppo Brussels, Hordaland Kunstsenter Bergen, Akademie Solitude Stuttgart, Europalia Brussels, Swimming Pool Sofia, Bozar Brussels, Centrale Fies, Matter of Art Prague Biennale…
